Finding Scholarly Articles

For this assignment, you will need to find scholarly (or academic) articles. These articles are written by researchers or professionals, have been reviewed by peer scholars, and are found in academic and research journals. See Scholarly vs. Popular Articles for tips on how to identify them.

Use the library databases to find articles on your topic. You may start with a psychology or general database, or search "All Ebscohost databases" to search many databases at one time.

  • On campus: go to the library homepage (http://www.mxcc.commnet.edu/library/) > "Find Articles" > "On Campus Users"
  • Off campus: go to my.commnet.edu > "Library" tab > My Library Resources (right-hand column) > click on "Middlesex Community College" > "Find Articles."
Most article databases have the option to limit your search to only scholarly articles. Look for "peer-reviewed," "scholarly," or "refereed" in the search limiters.
